Recommended pattern

Service-oriented

The integration surface and availability target justify separating the parts that change or scale at different rates, while keeping the service count low enough that one team can still operate the estate.

  • Three to six deployable services
  • Database per service where ownership demands it
  • Synchronous API gateway
  • Shared observability and tracing layer

Architecture pressure

Indicative team shape at peak

  • 1× Solution architect
  • 3× Software engineer
  • 1× Platform / DevOps engineer
  • 1× Test engineer
  • Delivered in reviewable increments against a signed statement of work.
  • Adds a data-protection workstream: lawful basis mapping, retention design, data subject request handling and a record of processing activities.

This is not a quotation. This estimator is an indicative planning aid produced from the parameters you selected. It reports engineering effort, elapsed duration and team shape. It is not a quotation, an offer or a commitment, and it deliberately contains no monetary figures: 4Tuna OÜ issues fees only in a written proposal after reviewing an actual request for proposal. Real figures depend on requirements, existing systems and constraints that no on-page calculator can see.

Service pillars

Four disciplines, one engineering practice

Most engagements draw on more than one of these. An advisory review often becomes a build; a modernisation programme almost always needs the platform work underneath it.

Full-Stack & APIs

Custom Enterprise Programming

Bespoke business applications and service APIs built to a written specification, delivered as source code your organisation owns.

  • Domain modelling and API contract design (REST, GraphQL, event-driven)
  • Back-end services in PHP, Node.js, Python, Go and Java
  • Front-end applications in React and TypeScript
Fixed-scope statement of work

Advisory & Design

IT Consulting & Technical Architecture

Independent technical advisory for organisations deciding what to build, what to buy and what to retire.

  • System and integration architecture design
  • Technology selection and vendor-neutral option analysis
  • Technical due diligence for investment and procurement decisions
Time-boxed advisory engagement with a written report and a review workshop.

Platform Engineering

Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps

Reproducible infrastructure, deployment pipelines and observability for systems that have to stay up.

  • Container orchestration and service deployment topology
  • CI/CD pipeline design across common hosted runners
  • Infrastructure as code with Terraform and configuration management
Project engagement

Migration & Decomposition

Legacy Modernisation & Microservices

Incremental decomposition of systems that still earn their keep but can no longer be changed safely.

  • Monolith assessment and domain boundary identification
  • Strangler-fig and branch-by-abstraction migration strategies
  • Data migration with reconciliation and rollback

How we work

The parts of an engagement that are not code

The technical decisions matter, but they are rarely what causes a project to fail. These four commitments are what a written agreement with us actually contains.

A written scope before a line of code

Every engagement starts with a specification and an architecture note that both sides sign. If we disagree about what is being built, the cheapest place to find that out is a document.

Reviewable increments, in your repository

Work lands as reviewed pull requests in a repository your organisation owns from day one. There is no point at which the code lives only with us.

Handover is part of the work, not an afterthought

Tests, migrations, runbooks and a working deployment pipeline are deliverables in their own right. Your team should be able to operate the system without calling us.

Data protection designed in, not bolted on

Where personal data is in scope we map the lawful basis, retention and data subject request path during design, because retrofitting those into a live system is expensive and usually incomplete.
